"Great Spirit" by Mare Costello

Mare Costello’s passionate spirit and unique eye for detail is reflected in her universal artistry, synthesizing ideas and emotions into succinct, colorful images that embrace her love of nature, history, music, and community. Drawing from an unbounded well of inspirations and styles, she uniquely expresses the soul and story behind each project, gliding from design and film to music and painting. In Costello’s world, everything connects and informs her creations while making strides to do so in an environmentally friendly manner.

“Mackinac Island, MI is where I go to find peace and to reenergize my soul. Over the years I’ve come to learn a great deal about the indigenous peoples who once called it home. I’m forever grateful to those who take such great strides to preserve this beautiful land and continue to share its legends. "Great Spirit" is a tribute to this and a celebration of the lilac flower grown in abundance on the island, along with, the butterfly who visits. I've begun to create several versions of the original.” Mare Costello

Mare Costello is a Michigan Native, graduate of College for Creative Studies in Detroit and has shown her works in Michigan, New York and Los Angeles.
